Star Wars Duo Outline Conditions for Return Amidst 'The Hunt for Ben Solo' Uproar

In case you hadn’t heard, there’s been some controversy in a galaxy far, far away recently. Have you been living under a space rock? No, of course not, so you’ll know Adam Driver revealed his plan for a Kylo Ren movie — The Hunt for Ben Solo – with Steven Soderbergh was ditched by Disney who didn’t get it. Well, maybe we’ll see other characters? How about Finn and Poe Dameron? At Liverpool Comic Con, John Boyega made it clear he hasn’t ruled out returning to Star Wars — not by a long shot. But there’s one non-negotiable:

Finn and Poe’s story deserves a theatrical home.

“Me and Oscar are very stubborn and we believe the bromance should only be on the big screen.”

So don’t expect Finn popping up on Disney+ anytime soon. Boyega emphasized that any reunion would need a movie-level scope and a strong script. And if the project ever moves forward, he already knows who else he wants beside them.

“It has to be a movie and obviously a great script. And I already spoke to Joonas today and said Joonas, you must join Poe and Finn on their adventure. So if I get those combinations, who knows.”

That would reunite Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), the fan favorite trio who gave the sequel series the fun Star Wars spark it semeed to be missing at times elsewhere.

Oscar Isaac Is “Not So Open to Working With Disney”

Boyega might be keen on the idea, but Isaac is a more complicated case. Isaac recently said he’s not closed off to returning to Star Wars or Marvel — but only under specific conditions. His comments came shortly after Disney suspended Jimmy Kimmel over on-air remarks, and Isaac didn’t mince words when addressing the situation.

“Yeah. I mean, I’d be open to it, although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney. But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great.”

That’s a big statement from the actor who once joked he’d return as Poe “if I needed another house.” Revisiting that remark, he acknowledged how it landed:

“Yeah. That was a real likable quote. Jesus Christ… I said a slightly dickish thing.”

Isaac’s stance isn’t a hard no — more like a conditional maybe. Or maybe he really does need a new house soon? Either way, the door is cracked open, but it hinges on major changes behind the scenes at Disney.
