Glen Powell and Katy O’Brian Suit Up For Life or Death Competition In a New ‘The Running Man’ Image [Exclusive]

There’s nothing quite like an official uniform to really pull the vibe together. Today, as part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, we’re thrilled to debut a brand-new look at Edgar Wright’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Running Man, which sees the primary characters eager to begin the life-or-death competition. Starring Glen Powell, the movie promises to take the beloved tale first penned by the legendary horror author and give it a modern twist courtesy of the visionary filmmaker behind such vibrant and unforgettable titles as Last Night in Soho, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and Shaun of the Dead. Slated for a theatrical arrival tomorrow, November 14, audiences are invited to dash across the starting line on an explosively high-octane thrill ride.

With bright lights shining in their faces, the main competitors of The Running Man competition take center stage in our latest image. Ready for their chance to win the life-changing grand prize, each of the players is suited up in well-tailored red jumpsuits. On the far left is Katy O’Brian’s (Love Lies Bleeding) Laughlin, who looks absolutely delighted to be part of the beloved TV series, while next to her, Powell’s Ben Richards is leaning into his confident demeanor with a smirk. Finally, there’s Martin Herlihy’s (Please Don’t Destroy) Jansky, who looks absolutely terrified at his odds of survival, while the program’s host, Bobby T (Colman Domingo), wins over the audience with an overflowing stage presence.

The new photo gives viewers a solid understanding of the personalities and traits behind the quartet of featured characters, especially of Powell’s Ben Richards, whose smugness will help him stay alive during the race. Others might be competing to ensure a better life for themselves, but Ben is putting everything on the line to ensure his terminally ill child gets the care that she needs. With plenty of challenges, The Running Man will see Ben attempt to dodge, duck, and thwart plenty of shots at his life as he’s stalked by a group of hunters who will do anything to take him down.

Every good King adaptation needs a menacing villain and, in the case of The Running Man, Josh Brolin perfectly fits the bill as the titular show’s producer who will do just about anything for ratings. Also included in the mad dash between runners and hunters is a lineup that includes Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies), Jayme Lawson (Sinners), William H. Macy (Shameless), Michael Cera (Arrested Development), Emilia Jones (CODA), David Zayas (Dexter), and more.
