The world of Death Stranding is expanding, and it’s heading to Disney+. Legendary game creator and wholesome movie appreciator (check his X profile if you don’t believe us) Hideo Kojima took the stage at the Disney+ Originals Preview event at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort to announce DEATH STRANDING: ISOLATIONS (working title), a brand-new animated series set within the universe of the award-winning video game franchise. The project marks Kojima’s first-ever partnership with a global streaming platform and will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in 2027.

Joining Kojima on stage was series director Takayuki Sano and character designer Ilya Kuvshinov, best known for his work on Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045. Together, the trio revealed new concept art and confirmed that the series will be animated by E&H Production. The announcement read:

“Set in the world of Death Stranding, DEATH STRANDING: ISOLATIONS will tell a completely new story, separate from that of the video games. The upcoming series will follow a young man and woman as they set out on an adventure.”
