Egypt advances to the Round of 32 with a win or tie over Iran, with a win securing first place in Group G. A tie against Iran would leave the door open for Belgium to pass Egypt with a win based on goal differential. If Egypt were to lose and New Zealand beat Belgium, there is a slight chance Egypt could go from first place in the group to eliminated from the World Cup as a third-place team based on goal differential.
