New Orleans Saints cornerback Jayden Price is beginning to separate himself as one of the team’s biggest surprises in training camp. After making an impression during OTAs and minicamp, the second-year defender has continued to flash while working behind Jonas Sanker at Brandon Staley’s patented STAR position.

Ross Jackson of LouisianaSports.Net highlighted Price as a standout through the early portion of training camp. His speed and aggressiveness have been traits that have helped him out through three practices.

“One of the surprises of camp for those that missed him during OTAs and minicamp, Price has been aggressive, physical and fast playing as the backup STAR/slot defender behind safety Jonas Sanker,” Jackson wrote.

Price has also consistently put himself in a position to make plays on the football. Jackson noted that the 25-year-old has used his reaction speed and timing to undercut passes twice.

“Twice, Price has undercut passes with impeccable timing thanks to his impressive reaction speed and almost came up with interceptions,” Jackson wrote. “If he starts securing the passes he has been getting his hands on, he’ll be on a fast track to a 53-man roster spot.”

Price joined the Saints in 2025 after failing to latch on with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2024. While he was ultimately cut from the Saints’ 53-man roster after training camp last year, he remained with the team’s practice squad for the entire season.

His ability to contribute from the slot and provide depth behind Sanker gives him a clear path to earning a role in New Orleans’ secondary. While there’s still plenty of training camp and the preseason to go, it seems that Price is making himself difficult to ignore. A few big plays could significantly alter the outlook of his chances of making the team.
