Robert Gasser, Jackson Chourio lift Brewers in rout: Winners and losers from Game 3
SPORTS
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The Milwaukee Brewers are one win from the first World Series title in franchise history.
They needed one inning Monday night to get there.
Milwaukee scored eight runs with two outs in the fifth and beat the Tampa Bay Rays, 10-1, in Game 3 at Tropicana Field. No team had scored eight two-out runs in a World Series inning, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Seven Brewers in a row hit safely, a first in any postseason game, according to OptaSTATS.
Here’s who’s looking at great offseason memories and who will be reliving this series with regrets:

WINNERS
Robert Gasser, Brewers starter
Gasser threw 75 pitches in six innings. He faced 18 Rays, the minimum.

Jackson Chourio, Brewers left fielder
Chourio led off the game with a single. He finished 4-for-5 with a double, a stolen base and two runs. Two of the hits came in the fifth.
He has nine RBIs this postseason.
Brice Turang, Brewers second baseman
The fifth inning didn’t break open until Turang worked a 2-2 count against left-hander Cam Booser and drove a two-run single. He finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs.
He did damage with the glove, too.
William Contreras, Brewers catcher
Contreras had three hits. One of them was ruled the third out of the fifth inning, a force at second, until the Brewers challenged and replay reversed it.

He went 4-for-4 behind the plate, too. The automated ball-strike system lets catchers and hitters challenge a call, and Contreras challenged four balls. All four were changed to strikes.

LOSERS
Freddy Peralta, Rays starter
Peralta pitched eight seasons for Milwaukee. A week ago, he was the ALCS MVP.
He couldn’t get out of the fifth against his old team. He gave up five runs on seven hits, walked three and left with the bases loaded. All three runners scored.
Cam Booser and the Rays bullpen
Booser faced four batters. All four got hits. He didn’t get an out, and his postseason ERA is 6.00. Cole Sulser followed and gave up four hits in 1⅓ innings. His postseason ERA is 15.43.

Junior Caminero, Rays third baseman
Caminero had Contreras’ grounder in the fifth and threw to second. Christian Yelich beat it.
Two batters later, Cooper Pratt’s two-run double went off a diving Caminero’s glove. He made a throwing error in the sixth and went hitless.
The Rays offense
Díaz singled in the first inning. The Rays didn’t get another hit until the ninth, when Cedric Mullins singled and Díaz doubled him home off Brandon Woodruff.
Three hits. One run.
Rays fans at the Trop
The first World Series game at Tropicana Field since 2008 drew 40,388.
Getting in was cheap by World Series standards. The lowest resale price for Game 3 fell to $422 by Monday, down 45% from the day the Rays clinched the pennant, according to Front Office Sports. The get-in price for Game 1 in Milwaukee was $2,338, a resale record.

Thousands of Brewers fans did the math and made the trip.
Before first pitch, Rays fans drowned out a “Let’s go Brewers” chant with boos and cowbells. After the fifth, the chant came back and bounced off the roof. By the late innings, seats were emptying along the first base side.
The Brewers fans stayed well after the game to sing and cheer.
The Rays, and history
No team has come back from an 0-3 deficit to win a World Series. The 2004 Boston Red Sox are the only team to do it in any postseason round, doing so in the American League Championship Series.
