With summer visits right around the corner, Ohio State got some good news on four-star edge rusher Luke Wafle. The Buckeyes have made it to the final five schools in his recruitment.
Wafle is a 6-foot-6, 250-pound defensive end from Middletown, New Jersey. He is the No. 6-ranked player at his position according to 247Sports composite rankings, and some believe he is being underrated at that. Joining Ohio State as finalists are Florida, Penn State, Texas, and USC. He will make an official visit to Columbus on May 30.
Wafle comes from a football family. His dad, David Wafle, was a defensive tackle for Duke in the 90s. His older brother, Owen, signed with Michigan out of high school as a four-star defensive line prospect in 2024. However, Owen wasn’t feeling it in Ann Arbor and hit the transfer portal after just one year in Maize and Blue. He would ultimately sign closer to home with the Nittany Lions. Will that play a role in Luke’s recruitment? Only time will tell.
This is another area of need for Ohio State. The Buckeyes currently have the No. 3-ranked class in the country, but they do not have a defensive lineman or defensive end yet committed in the class.
