The Ohio State football team is finally going to get a marquee matchup in prime time. Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, it requires a road trip to Austin. OSU will travel to Texas to face the Longhorns on September 12, and what was speculation is now certain: kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Ohio State and Texas faced off in Columbus in 2025, but due to the Big Ten’s contract with Fox, the game was part of the network’s Big Noon Kickoff, which features the Buckeyes more than any other team. That’s great exposure for Fox, but often leaves fans without the energy and excitement of a night game at the ‘Shoe. Looking at the schedule for the 2026 season, it looks like it will be more of the same. Since OSU is on the road on the 12th and Michigan is hosting Oklahoma on the same day, the Wolverines will get the noon time slot instead.

It was also announced that College GameDay will be on hand for what should be a matchup to determine the No. 1 team in the rankings. The game will be televised nationally on ABC with Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler calling the game.
