Jacksonville, are you stoked about the Invesco QQQ Atlanta Gridiron Classic yet?

That’s what they’re calling the Florida-Georgia game this year. It’s being played in Atlanta due to construction at EverBank Stadium, and won’t return to Jacksonville until the 2028 season. Next year’s game will be played in Tampa.

The Florida-Georgia game (or as it’s known in alternating years, the Georgia-Florida game), has been a Jacksonville tradition for decades. The rivals first met in Jacksonville in 1915 and have played at EverBank Stadium or its predecessors since 1933 (the teams played a home-and-home series in 1994 and ’95, the last time Jacksonville’s stadium underwent a huge transformation). Georgia leads the series at either 57-44-2 or 58-44-2, depending on who you ask.

With no game in Jacksonville, no RV City and no World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, what’s a fan to do all day? Fortunately, there are some big viewing parties being planned. The game also falls on Halloween, which brings its own opportunities for fun.

The City of Jacksonville, by the way, isn’t just sitting on the sidelines. They’ll still hold the annual Georgia Florida Hall of Fame ceremony — in Atlanta, at the College Football Hall of Fame. Bulldogs Andre Hastings and Brandon Boykin and Gators Emmitt Smith and Maurkice Pouncey will be inducted at the ceremony.
