Newcastle United are no longer in the race to sign Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford.
According to The Athletic, the Magpies previously held talks with City about signing Trafford but are now looking at alternatives.

They are exploring a deal for Parma’s Zion Suzuki and Carl Rushworth of Brighton & Hove Albion.
Leeds United are locked in discussions with City over a move for Trafford, who also prefers a switch to Elland Road.
The Whites are seeking a replacement for Karl Darlow, who recently joined Manchester United on a free transfer.
Nick Pope was Eddie Howe’s first-choice goalkeeper last season, but his performances between the sticks were not convincing.
Newcastle are seeking a top-quality goalkeeper this summer, as they aim to make a comeback in 2026-27.
Suzuki is regarded as one of the brightest young keepers in European football following his excellent displays for Japan at the World Cup.

But a deal for the 23-year-old is not expected to be easy, with Manchester United and Aston Villa also keen on him.
Rushworth is coming off an impressive loan spell at Coventry City. Given his contract at Brighton runs out next year, he could be available to sign for a bargain fee.
