The Las Vegas Raiders had a dreadful season in 2025, but that misery now leads to a brighter future.

After hiring Klint Kubiak as their new head coach, the Raiders are in prime position to find their franchise quarterback in this year’s draft. Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza is widely believed to be the top signal-caller in a weaker class, giving Las Vegas a chance to address its most important need.
However, the Raiders have more needs than just quarterback as they try to overhaul the roster. The team already made several quality additions in free agency, including center Tyler Linderbaum on a major deal, but there is still work to be done this weekend.

Raiders NFL Draft needs
-
Quarterback: After Geno Smith started for the Raiders in 2025, Las Vegas traded him to the New York Jets, paving the way for the team to take Fernando Mendoza first overall. The Raiders haven’t solved the quarterback position since moving on from Derek Carr, so taking the best quarterback in the draft first overall will go a long way to helping the team fill its most pressing need. The team also signed Kirk Cousins, though, to fill out a solid quarterback room.
-
Wide receiver: Las Vegas’ most pressing need is likely at wide receiver, where the team should consider taking multiple players in the draft. Currently, the Raiders best receiver is Tre Tucker, who had 696 receiving yards last year, but no one else on the roster had more than 500 receiving yards in 2025. Las Vegas should look to add a receiver with its second-round pick, and potentially double dip later in the draft.
-
Safety: The Raiders safety room is sparse, as there are only a few safeties on the team. Most notable, Jeremy Chinn is set to return after a solid season with the team last year, but Las Vegas could use an upgrade next to Chinn over Isaiah Polo-Mao and Tristin McCollum.
