Heading into a Week 9 showdown against the newly ranked Wisconsin Badgers, Iowa Hawkeyes head coach cleared the air on his starting quarterback.

On Saturday, Oct. 31, it will indeed be Hank Brown who starts against the Badgers.

This is a Wisconsin defense that hasn’t messed around the past few weeks. They held UCLA to just 17 points, though they only scored seven themselves, so that was a heartbreaking loss at the Rose Bowl.

Then, they put together one of the most dominant performances anyone has ever seen against Lincoln Riley, stunning then-ranked No. 15 USC, 24-7.

Iowa is fresh off a surprising loss to unranked Minnesota, but Ferentz elected not to make a QB change.

Brown started the year splitting time with Jeremy Hecklinski, but Hecklinski wasn’t able to win that battle, and he’s been QB2 ever since.

Brown is a senior who completed just 11 of 21 passes against Minnesota, and while this team relies on the run game, they just lost Kamari Moulton for the rest of the season, so that’s a huge blow on offense.

Through six games, Brown is 89/145 with 968 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions.

For reference, Hecklinski is 41/67 for 472 yards in five games with four touchdowns to two interceptions.
