The Los Angeles Lakers may still be interested in reuniting with LeBron James in free agency.

The Golden State Warriors are trying to change those plans with a bold strategy to bring aboard both LeBron and Anthony Davis to play with Stephen Curry.

Nothing has been decided yet, but it does sound like the Warriors have accelerated the Lakers’ concern on the matter.

This is what NBA insider Chris Haynes posted on X on Monday:

“LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers still have yet to have a conversation regarding his future but that’s expected to change in light of Golden State Warriors’ strategic maneuvering to position themselves as a landing spot, sources tell me.”

Is it a little odd that the Lakers and LeBron haven’t talked yet? Sure.

It’s probably more notable that the Lakers are now springing into action, though. They still should have some appeal to James. His family lives there now, and he may not be in a rush to move them somewhere far away just for maybe one season.

The Lakers also have LeBron’s son Bronny still under contract, another thing working in their favor.

LeBron seemed to enjoy playing with Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, too, which can’t hurt L.A.’s cause.

Golden State, of course, has the draw of Curry.

This report from Haynes on Monday won’t be the last LeBron insight. There’ll be plenty of more news, rumors and speculation.

For now, though, it’s just interesting to see the Warriors getting the Lakers to take some action. What happens from here is still to be determined.
