Gruden spent seven seasons as the Buccaneers’ head coach from 2002 through 2008, highlighted by leading the franchise to its first Super Bowl championship in 2002. Since leaving coaching, he has worked extensively in television, most notably as an analyst on ESPN’s Monday Night Football, before returning to the sidelines with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2018.
Barber, another iconic figure in franchise history, has been a familiar voice on Buccaneers broadcasts since retiring from the NFL after a Hall of Fame career spent entirely in Tampa Bay.
The preseason matchup against the Chiefs will feature a broadcast of two of the most recognizable figures from the Buccaneers’ championship era. According to Auman’s report, Gruden is expected to reunite with Barber in the booth for the Aug. 22 contest.
