Florida State‘s dominant victory over Virginia appears to have significantly shifted how ESPN views the Seminoles’ chances throughout the remainder of the 2026 season. After entering Saturday as underdogs, the Seminoles delivered a convincing 38-7 victory over the Cavaliers, improving to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in ACC play.

The performance not only eased some of the pressure surrounding head coach Mike Norvell but also provided a substantial boost to Florida State’s standing in ESPN’s predictive models. According to ESPN’s updated Matchup Predictor, Florida State’s win probability increased for all seven remaining games, including several significant changes from last week’s projections.

Florida State’s chances against Louisville have increased by 16.1 percentage points, making Friday night’s matchup considerably more competitive in ESPN’s eyes. FSU win probability: 8.2%

Projected record: 3-4

Despite a slight increase of 2.3 percentage points, ESPN still gives Florida State little chance of upsetting its undefeated rival. Miami improved to 5-0 following a dominant 41-13 victory over Clemson and remains the toughest projected opponent on FSU’s remaining schedule.

Oct. 31 vs. Clemson

Projected winner: Florida State

FSU win probability: 73.2%

Projected record: 4-4

What appeared to be a relatively competitive matchup last week now heavily favors Florida State. Clemson’s struggles against Miami coincided with a 15.6-percentage-point increase in FSU’s projected chances, giving the Seminoles a considerably stronger outlook entering their Halloween showdown at Doak Campbell Stadium.

Nov. 13 at Pittsburgh

Projected winner: Pittsburgh

FSU win probability: 33.2%

Projected record: 5-5

Pittsburgh remains unbeaten at 5-0, but ESPN’s latest projections suggest Florida State is becoming a more credible threat to the Panthers. Nov. 27 vs. Florida

Projected winner: Florida

FSU win probability: 43.7%
