After a surprising season in 2024, the Washington Commanders are suddenly a destination franchise. Several star players have been linked to the Commanders this offseason, including Browns star edge rusher Myles Garrett, before he agreed to an extension with Cleveland.

In an effort to return to the NFC championship game and hopefully go further in 2025, general manager Adam Peters was busy this offseason, adding Pro Bowl offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Deebo Samuel via trades. These moves came months after the Commanders acquired former Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore from the Saints at the NFL trade deadline.

Washington has consistently been linked to Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson. Hendrickson has one year left on his contract. He wants a new deal, but Cincinnati appears to be in no hurry to give him one or trade him.

Another veteran star is currently on the trade block, and yes, the Commanders have been connected to him. Ramsey, 30, is a three-time first-team All-Pro selection and a seven-time Pro Bowler. The Miami Dolphins would like to move on from Ramsey, and he’s also ready to move on.

This one is not happening. The Commanders have invested significantly in the cornerback position and are already without two draft picks in 2026. While they can afford Ramsey’s salary, Washington has Lattimore, Mike Sainristil, Jonathan Jones, Noah Igbinoghene and rookie second-round pick Trey Amos at cornerback. Trading for Ramsey would make no sense.

Have the Commanders perhaps called about Ramsey? Maybe. If so, that would be more about Peters doing his due diligence. It’s also possible that Ramsey’s agent or someone from Miami has named the Commanders as a potential destination. Don’t buy it.

The Commanders are set at cornerback, barring an unforeseen injury. Now, if an edge rusher came available, that could be another story.
