Michael Douglas and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones are celebrating a special milestone: 25 years of marriage.

The Wednesday star, 56, marked their silver wedding anniversary on Instagram on Tuesday, Nov. 18, by sharing some heartfelt reflections on their 2000 nuptials. “25 years ago today, I walked down the aisle,” she wrote. “The intoxicating aroma of flowers, the glow of the candles, the resounding harmonious Welsh choir and you at the end of the long walk waiting for me, looking at me the way only you can. I love you today as I did then. Thank you sweetheart♥️.”

Zeta-Jones’ post featured a series of photos of the couple, showing them posing together at the Taj Mahal and kissing on their wedding day. She also included a snapshot of herself looking at Douglas the very first time they met, writing over the image, “My gaze…”

The Wall Street star, 81, shared an anniversary post of his own on Instagram featuring a throwback photo of the couple. The two can be seen posing with their arms around each other at an event.

“Happy 25th anniversary, my darling Catherine. Who knew?” Douglas wrote in the post’s caption, adding, “All my love, Michael ❤️.”

This latest special occasion comes just months after the couple celebrated their joint birthday on Sept. 25. At the time, Douglas shared a photo of himself and Zeta-Jones cuddled up together in a golf cart.

He wrote, “To my birthday sister—what a joy celebrating another year with you! Congratulations on your spectacular game at the Celebrity Ryder Cup. Happy Birthday to the love of my life @catherinezetajones ❤️ 🎂 🎉.”

Zeta-Jones replied in the comments, “Happy birthday darling ❤️. I can’t think of anyone else to share a birthday with.♥️.”

Douglas and Zeta-Jones first met at the Deauville Film Festival in 1998. During a 2016 appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, the Fatal Attraction star revealed that he had seen the actress in her film The Mask of Zorro and asked his publicist to arrange a meeting. They met in a bar for a nightcap, and Douglas told Zeta-Jones that night, “You know, I’m going to be the father of your children.”

The couple got engaged during a New Year’s Eve trip to Aspen, Colo., in 1999. In August of the following year, they welcomed their first child together, son Dylan.

They tied the knot at the Plaza Hotel in New York City in 2000, with a star-studded guest list that included Tom HanksWhoopi GoldbergAnthony HopkinsBrad Pitt and Goldie Hawn. Nearly three years later, their daughter Carys was born.

At the 2019 Golden Globes, Douglas spoke to reporters about how his love for his wife “continues to grow.”

“We celebrated our 18th anniversary recently,” he said, “and besides the genuine love that only continues to grow, I think the fact that we’re in the same industry really helps us to understand what is going on.”

During a visit to the Today show in May 2021, Douglas opened up about the couple entering a new chapter in their marriage as empty nesters. At the time, their daughter, Carys, had just graduated from high school and was college-bound.

“It’s scary. It really is,” the Basic Instinct actor admitted on Today. “You look at each other and go, ‘Well, it’s just you and me, babe.’ ”

He continued, “You forget how many conversations you sort of hide behind in terms of talking about your kids and what’s going on next and this and that, and then one day you just look at each other … We’re 20 years now, so all those good years of paying attention to each other are paying off now.”
