Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever officially wrapped up the regular season on Thursday night, but it’s safe to say that things did not go according to plan for Clark or the team.
Not only did the Fever suffer a blowout loss at the hands of the Minnesota Lynx, but Clark also played the worst game of her entire career, posting career-low numbers in a number of categories.

Clark’s historically bad game
Throughout her WNBA career, Clark has been a reliable offensive weapon for the Fever as one of the most consistent scorers in the WNBA. However, that certainly was not the case on Thursday night.
Clark finished Thursday night’s game with just two points on a 1-for-12 shooting performance from the field and just three assists. The Fever superstar posted career lows in points (2), three-pointers (0), and field goal percentage (8.3%) as the Fever fell by a final score of 88-66.
To add a bit of context, Clark has averaged 22.8 points and 8.5 assists per game this season, ranking second in the league in assists and third in the league in scoring.

Tough night for the Fever
The good news is that the Fever already clinched a spot in the playoffs weeks ago. The bad news, however, is that Thursday’s loss could negatively impact their playoff seeding.
Thursday’s loss, combined with the Washington Mystics‘ victory over the Chicago Sky, drops the Fever from the No. 5 seed to the No. 6 seed. That means that instead of facing the Atlanta Dream in the first round of the playoffs, the Fever will now face either the defending WNBA Champion Las Vegas Aces or the Golden State Valkyries in the opening round.
To make matters worse, there’s a chance that the Fever could be without one of their most important players, as All-Star Aliyah Boston left Thursday’s game with an injury and did not return to the court.

This is certainly not how the Fever wanted to be entering the postseason.
