Buffalo Bills star Ed Oliver is mourning an unimaginable loss after his 2-year-old son, Ed, drowned in the swimming pool at the NFL player’s Texas home … TMZ Sports has learned.
According to local officials, deputies responded to an in-progress life-in-danger call at Oliver’s home on the evening of June 28. When first responders arrived, they were told the child’s parents had found him unresponsive in the pool.
The toddler, who was just shy of his second birthday, was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:18 PM.
The 28-year-old defensive tackle was seen speaking with law enforcement before breaking down in tears as he sat on the ground outside his home.
Buffalo Bills General Manager Brandon Beane sent his condolences to Ed and his family on behalf of the entire organization Saturday. He said, “It’s an unthinkable tragedy for any parent. We will continue to support Ed and his family as we all grieve this tragic loss.”
Oliver was selected ninth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft and has spent his entire NFL career with the Buffalo Bills, becoming one of the anchors of the team’s defense.
