Through six quarters of their NFL season, the Denver Broncos had tallied a grand total of one touchdown. Five first-half possessions against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday featured two trips to the red zone and just three points.
But there were no such struggles after halftime. Denver’s offense got on track for the first time this season to secure a 20-13 come-from-behind win over the Jaguars.

The Broncos scored on three consecutive second-half possessions that included two touchdowns, then effectively ran a four-minute drill to ice the win in the fourth quarter.
It added up to some much-needed success for third-year quarterback Bo Nix and offensive coordinator Davis Webb, who took heat for his play-calling debut in Week 1’s 31-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Bo Nix outplayed Trevor Lawrence, who struggled against a stout Denver defense playing its first game at home. And after posting a dud in his Broncos debut, Jayden Waddle was the spark Denver expected when they traded a package including a first-round pick to acquire him in the offseason.
Waddle tallied 8 catches for 138 yards, including a 29-yard third-down gain late in the fourth quarter that kept Denver’s game-sealing drive alive.
Nix meanwhile, completed 22 of 31 passes for 288 yards (9.3 yards per attempt) with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. And a run game that produced 32 yards on the ground in the first half finished with a respectable 104.

The much-needed win thwarted an 0-2 hole for the Broncos that could have tanked their season ahead of a difficult schedule that features games against the Rams, 49ers, Chargers and Seahawks in the next four weeks. While still daunting, that slate is not as ominous while sitting at 1-1.
