Last week saw a major District 24-6A challenge for Cedar Park and a big-time showdown in District 25-6A. Week 8 of the 2026 Central Texas high school football season sees yet another Class 6A test for the undefeated Timberwolves and a big-time showdown in District 26-6A. Must be near the end of the regular season.

Things got started Thursday night with the resumption of the Anderson vs. McCallum rivalry series, recast as a mid-season district game, not the traditional first Thursday season opener we got used to for all those years. But the Trojans did their part in keeping history alive: they won their fifth straight in the series, 21-9.

It’s a close to full slate of games tonight – only four Austin-area schools have byes – and we’re at three of them. Colby Gordon is at the Bowie-Dripping Springs game in District 26-6A and is live blogging from Tiger Stadium. Shaun Chornobroff is at Cedar Park-Vandegrift and also is live blogging. And Caleb Yum is at the Pflugerville-Bastrop game from District 12-5A DII and will have live coverage from Memorial Stadium as well.
