The Los Angeles Angels reinstated catcher Travis d’Arnaud from the injured list after trading catcher Logan O’Hoppe and reliever Chase Silseth to the Texas Rangers on Wednesday.
d’Arnaud has been out since May with right foot plantar fasciitis, playing just 14 games in MLB prior to his injury. Through those 14 games, he hit one home run and tallied three RBIs with a .614 OPS. He split time with O’Hoppe during the first month or so of the season, and will likely do the same with Tyler Heinemann going forward.

“I think we’ll mix and match,” manager Kurt Suzuki said. “Obviously, not run somebody into the ground, but whichever guy we feel gives us the best opportunity to win that night. Everything comes into play when it comes to who’s going to catch.”
d’Arnaud began his rehab assignment in Triple-A on July 17, and played six games there—posting a .649 OPS before heading to Single-A for the final game of his assignment. Through his seven games in the minors, he tallied five hits in 22 at-bats.
“It went good,” d’Arnaud said of his time in the minors. “Feel good, happy to be back with the boys. Wish we’d have won today, but what can you do?”

Who Else Is Set to Return From Injury?
The Angels have a long list of injured players looking to return, and could get a few of them back soon. Infielder Adam Frazier also went from Triple-A to Single-A with d’Arnaud, and could return shortly for the Halos.

Additionally, Sebastian Rivero began his rehab assignment in Single-A just a few days ago, and could bring more reinforcements to the catching position following O’Hoppe’s departure.
The most important player set to return, though, is Yusei Kikuchi, who has missed the majority of the season since going down with shoulder inflammation in May. He started seven games for the Angels before moving to the injured list, and had a 5.81 ERA through 31 innings pitched.
With some key players returning and the deadline approaching, the Angels could make some splash moves while bringing in some young talent as they look to pull themselves out of last place in the AL West.
