The tale of Robin Hood has been done and redone so many times in movies and television that, at this point, someone would need to come up with something really special to do it all over again. Those who have tuned in for the new MGM+ production from Jonathan English and John Glenn will know that the creative pair have cracked the code and done exactly that. Already three episodes in, the title is climbing the streaming charts and winning over critics and audiences alike. Today, we’re thrilled to share an exclusive sneak peek of the upcoming fourth episode of the fantasy series, which features a masterclass in acting from Gladiator and Nobody favorite, Connie Nielsen, and Hollyoaks alum, Lauren McQueen.
Our exclusive first look at Robin Hood’s fourth episode takes viewers inside the chambers of Nielsen’s Queen Eleanor, where she’s called Marian (McQueen) for a meeting. From behind her desk, the Queen lists her royal titles before telling Marian that even with all the names and jobs in the world, she’s still considered by many to be a prisoner of England. But, she explains, there is still power in her position, as she is able to exchange messages with others and “make allegiances” with the right people, all while ruling from the background. Further driving her point home, the Queen tells Marian that she, too, can harness her power with a little help from the most powerful woman in the castle — the Queen.
Starring Jack Patten (War Machine) as Rob, Robin Hood weaves a different tale than what audiences are used to while keeping the main plot points in place. This one is a story of love between the titular character and Marian (McQueen), both of whom couldn’t be more different. The former is the son of a Saxon forester, and the latter is the daughter of a Norman lord, but that doesn’t stop their paths from crossing and a romantic and professional relationship beginning. From outside the castle walls, Rob assembles a gang of outlaws intent on bringing the royals to their knees, while Marian uses her power and connections to do the same inside the courts.
Meet the Faces Behind ‘Robin Hood’
Robin Hood sees the return of Sean Bean into the fantasy world following his less-than-savory send-offs in The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. The legendary actor is joined by a cast that includes Lydia Peckham (Nuremberg), Henry Rowley, Angus Castle-Doughty (Showtrial), Marcus Fraser (The Last Knight), Steve Waddington (The Last of the Mohicans), and others.
Check out our sneak peek at the next episode of Robin Hood above and watch it on MGM+ when Episode 4 arrives this Sunday.
