Fans of found footage and mockumentary-style storytelling in the horror genre have already been eating well this year thanks to the recent cinematic arrival of Chris Stuckmann’s Shelby Oaks. But, the fun isn’t over yet because soon, fellow festival darling, Man Finds Tape, will step out of the darkness, pick up the baton, and deliver something from the subgenre that we’ve never seen before. Today, as part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, we’re inviting our readers to immerse themselves in the twisted and brain-melting tale from co-writers and directors, Peter Hall and Paul Gandersman, with a brand-new image from the found footage-meets-mockumentary flick. Backed by Magnolia Pictures, the trippy journey will make audiences question everything from beginning to end when the title celebrates a run in select cinemas and an on-demand takeover on December 5.
Our exclusive still snaps a shot of two of the film’s primary characters — Kelsey Pribilski’s (Landman) Lynn Page and William Magnuson’s (Inbetween Girl) Lucas Page. The two siblings have their story of connection play out at the center of the film, and, as we can see in the image, they’ve found their way back to one another despite a multitude of barriers that stood in their way. But, they’re not home free just yet, as the photo captures a true moment of terror darting across both parties’ eyes as they look at something in front of them that’s out of frame to us.
Smalltown horror takes center stage in Man Finds Tape after a documentarian named Lynn Page (Pribilski) is lured back to her hometown in Texas after receiving a mysterious phone call. Once there, the stories that she hears don’t quite add up, and it almost seems as though multiple members of the community have had their brains completely wiped of certain memories. With only her brother to trust, Lynn goes on a journey for the truth, but after secrets come out of the woodwork that call her own sibling’s perspective into question, she wonders if there’s really anyone out there on her side. Meanwhile, a religious leader’s sudden appearance in the town forces Lynn to take a step back and view the whole picture before her quest for the truth can continue.
Meet the Rest of the Faces Behind ‘Man Finds Tape’

The latest project to hail from frequent collaborators, Hall and Gandersman, is produced by David Lawson Jr., Aaron Moorhead, Justin Benson and Ashley Landavazo.
