We’re looking at five Eagles who could have a breakout summer and earned bigger roles for the Super Bowl champions in 2025
After winning Super Bowl 59 and suffering massive free agent losses, the Eagles need impact players on both sides. With eight picks in 2025 and 22+ picks, Howie Roseman will have another opportunity to add depth to a Super Bowl-caliber roster.
Lost in the predraft hype and hoopla every year is the likelihood that several players on the Philadelphia roster will follow Zack Baun’s trend and have breakout seasons for a team that’ll be hunted and need energy week in and week out.
With the draft fast approaching, we’re looking at Eagles who could have bigger roles in 2025.
WR Terrace Marshall
Marshall will turn 25 before Training Camp. He brings elite size (6-foot-2, 200 pounds) and speed (4.4 in the 40 at his Pro Day in 2021) to the offense. If Jahan Dotson struggles to claim a role, Marshall could slide into the No. 3 spot.
RB Will Shipley
The Eagles are looking to relieve some of the load on Saquon Barkley following a season in which he led the league with 2,0005 yards. Philadelphia signed AJ Dillon, but the former Clemson running back could see more time if he falters. As a rookie, Shipley rushed 30 times for 82 yards (2.7 YPC) across 16 regular-season appearances with the Eagles in 2024. He also secured all four targets for 35 yards and compiled 173 yards as a kick returner.
Shipley, a 2024 fourth-round pick, logged a 77-yard run and a score, the first of his career, on just four carries versus Washington in the NFC Championship Game.
WR Jahan Dotson
Dotson caught 19 of 33 targets for 216 yards in 17 regular-season games with the Eagles in 2024 after being acquired in a trade from Washington. He also rushed once for 13 yards. Despite his struggles, Dotson played 649 offensive snaps during the regular season for Philadelphia, working as a No. 3 receiver behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Dotson improved with time and had his most impactful game of the season during the Eagles’ win over Kansas City in Super Bowl LIX, with two catches for 42 yards on three targets. With a full off-season under his belt, the 2022 first-round pick could have an increased role for the 2025 season if Philadelphia moves on from Goedert.
TE Grant Calcaterra
The tight end position could see Dallas Goedert depart, which could mean a starting role for Calcaterra. He played with Hurts at Oklahoma and finished his third professional season with career highs in catches (24), yards (298), and touchdowns (one).
OL Tyler Steen
The Eagles acquired Kenyon Green from the Texans for C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and while he’s a former first-round pick, the former Texas A&M star was the 76th highest-graded guard in the NFL out of 77 candidates, according to PFF.
Former Alabama offensive tackle and third-round pick Tyler Steen was slightly better, landing at 75th with a 40.7 grade from PFF. There will be competition for this spot, and it’s a noticeable downgrade currently after Mekhi Becton’s exit. Things could get difficult for both players if the Eagles land a guard, but Steen has a chance to carve out his role.
DE Bryce Huff
Huff can only go up from here after a rough 2024, and he’s entering the second year of a three-year, $51 million deal. A prize-free agent signing last spring, Huff was a major disappointment in 2024 and saw limited playing time due to the rotation and injuries. Huff had 2.5 sacks, missed seven games, and was inactive for the Super Bowl. With Brandon Graham retiring and Josh Sweat in Arizona, Huff has a shot.
DT Moro Ojomo
Ojomo finished the 2024 season with 20 tackles (six solo) in 17 regular-season games. Ojomo saw a significant increase in workload in his second season with the Eagles, playing 370 defensive snaps and 70 snaps on special teams while appearing in all 17 of the team’s regular-season games. With Milton Williams departing, Ojomo is expected to be a starter, but a first-round pick could alter that.
LB Jalyx Hunt
Hunt will get the first shot at replacing Josh Sweat despite Josh Uche getting signed. Hunt finished the 2024 season with 21 total tackles (12 solo), including 1.5 sacks, while adding one pass defended and two forced fumbles over 16 regular-season games. A first or second-round pass rusher could impact that idea.
DB Lewis Cine
Cine was selected by Minnesota 32nd overall in the 2022 draft and joined the Bills‘ practice squad after being released by the Vikings last summer. He broke his leg during his rookie season and was limited to playing 10 defensive snaps in 10 games over his two years in Minnesota.
The 24-year-old from Haiti is listed at 6-foot-2 and 199 pounds and is a low-risk signing after a decorated college career at Georgia. Cine earned defensive MVP honors in Georgia’s 33-18 win over Alabama in the national championship game in the 2021 season.
