Tim Burton’s gothic drama, Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega, has wooed fans worldwide as one of Netflix’s biggest shows ever. A fresh perspective on the iconic Addams Family, with a dose of crime-solving on the side, makes the Netflix series very enticing for new audiences and for those who have seen various adaptations. With the success of the second season of Alfred Gough and Miles Millar’s showrun series (which took its time with an agonizing 3-year wait), the anticipation for the next season is running high. Now, a new report suggests we’re a step closer to the series.
Wednesday Season 3 will start shooting in Ireland in the coming months, GamesRadar+ reports, signaling that we won’t have to wait nearly as long as we did for Season 2. The second season of the Ortega-led series saw many familiar faces journey to the Nevermore Academy, including Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez (Luis Guzmán) moving to the school as the former takes up a new position. With her family around and a new stalker in tow, Wednesday chases a new mystery. The season ended with several cliffhangers that will be picked up in the third season. Season 2 of the show was better received than Season 1. With a wider cast of compelling performers, a deepening mystery, and several humorous moments, the season earned an 87% Rotten Tomatoes rating from critics and 76% from fans.
There’s Still Hope for “Weyler” Fans in ‘Wednesday’ Season 3
Season 2 left fans on a cliffhanger note with multiple characters, including Hunter Doohan’s Hyde, Tyler. In the end, Wednesday frees Tyler and lets him leave, so fans who ship the two characters still hold on to hope. Doohan previously explained where the Wednesday and Tyler dynamic leaves off heading into Season 3. He told Collider:
“Tyler talks a big game, and then it’s fun to get to see these moments poking through. Even when he’s a Hyde about to kill Enid, Wednesday is like, ‘I lied about my feelings,’ even in Hyde form, he’s like, ‘Tell me more.’ Obviously, he’s not in control of himself again, but then to see that his feelings poke through when he thinks he’s actually lost her. And then, she misses at the end. I don’t know. At the end, Tyler feels like he’s lost everything. He thinks he’s going to die. He just has no idea what’s even left for him at this point. I have no idea what’s in store for him.”
Wednesday Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates on Season 3.
