The Stockton Kings have reached the NBA G League Finals two years in a row, with one trip culminating in their first championship. Their roster has seen tremendous turnover, with only one player returning from last season. The team features plenty of new faces, from two-way players with Sacramento to trade acquisitions.

Stockton has a winning culture. Despite the Sacramento Kings reaching the NBA Playoffs once over the last twenty years, the Stockton Kings rarely miss the G League Playoffs.

Landing so many new players may lead some to believe the team is looking to take on a new identity. That’s not entirely the case, as many players cite defensive intensity and pace, two hallmarks of the squad’s previous system, as points consistently preached.

Nearly every player touched upon fighting to reach the pinnacle of G League success, the Finals. They hope to continue the winning legacy the organization has built.

“We’re looking forward to building on last season,” Head Coach Will Scott said.

Every member of the Stockton Kings is ready and willing to integrate themselves within the system. That starts with playing with intensity and energy.

One of their premier players is former Toronto Raptor Jonathan Mogbo. Mogbo has played in three games with Stockton’s NBA affiliate, and he made his presence felt.

When asked how he maintains such a high level of physicality during his minutes, he said, “that’s my job.”

Mogbo understands his role and embraces it. The Stockton staff also want their guys to play with freedom, while growing their skills.
