Napoli have confirmed that midfielder Scott McTominay is back with the club and that he began his recovery work in the gym in Naples on Thursday following a recent procedure on his heart.

McTominay has missed Napoli’s last four matches across all competitions after having a minor procedure carried out on his heart to fix a mild, benign arrhythmia earlier this month.

It is understood that McTominay and the club took the decision to have the procedure in September in order to minimise the number of matches that the midfielder would miss, given that there is an extra-long international break between the end of September and early October .
The procedure was carried out in the player’s hometown of Manchester on September 8, and the club confirmed that he would require a rest period of around two weeks.
Napoli have now confirmed in a statement that McTominay is back in Naples and that he began carrying out individualised work in the gym on Thursday.
The Scotland international, not available to Sebastien Pocognoli during the international break, will be aiming to return to competitive action in time for Napoli’s next Serie A match at home against Frosinone on October 10. They will be in Champions League action away against Villarreal the following Tuesday, October 13.
