The last thing Washington Commanders fans wanted to see early on this season was yet another Jayden Daniels injury. Unfortunately, the Commanders quarterback ended Sunday’s first half in the most brutal way possible that even Tom Brady couldn’t help but swear on national television.
At the end of the second quarter, Daniels led the Commanders down the field looking to tie up the Dallas Cowboys, who held a 17-10 lead in their Week 2 matchup. While executing a third-and-goal play at the 1-yard line, Daniels tripped coming out of the snap and caught his fall with his left arm, causing his elbow to extend awkwardly. Daniels finished out the play with a desperation heave that fell incomplete, but ended up being carted off the field due to the injury to end the half. The Commanders then announced that Daniels’ day was done.

In reviewing the Commanders’ final play of the half and Daniels’ injury in a slow-mo replay, Fox broadcaster Tom Brady couldn’t help his strong verbal reaction to seeing Washington’s quarterback go down in such a brutal fashion.
That about sums it up, yeah. This isn’t Daniels’ first go-around with an injury to this arm either, as he dislocated his left elbow in November 2025 after taking a hard sack. Daniels did return for one more game after the injury last season, but ended up being shut down for the season by the Commanders in mid-December.
