If the first game of the series between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Athletics at Las Vegas Ballpark in Las Vegas, Nevada, was any indication, fans of both teams (and baseball in general) are in for a wild ride the rest of the way.
On Monday, Milwaukee and the A’s went at it like two gladiators, each refusing to lose. But when it was all said and done and after what seems like a ton of home runs, the Brewers came out on top with a 15-14 victory.

That series opener broke the record for the most runs scored in a game so far in the 2026 MLB season.
The 29 combined runs scored in Monday’s game smashed the previous MLB-wide season high of 25, which was set by the Giants in a 19-6 win over the Rockies on May 31. But it hasn’t actually been that long since two teams topped that: The Pirates and Rockies combined to plate 33 runs in a 17-16 thriller on Aug. 1, 2025, at Coors Field.
Brewers outlast A’s in wild barnburner in Las Vegas
It was a game to remember for a number of reasons, perhaps none bigger than the offensive fireworks both teams displayed.
A total of 11 home runs were hit during the contest, including some clutch ones down the stretch.
William Contreras hit a three-run home run in the top of the 10th inning to extend Milwaukee’s lead, 14-10. But just when it looked like the A’s were circling down the drain, they scored four runs in the bottom of the frame, including two off Nick Kurtz’s blast to trim Milwaukee’s lead, 14-3. Then pinch-hitter Jonah Heim lifted a solo home run to tie the game at 14-14 and force another inning.

The game ended after the A’s failed to cobble a run following automatic runner Christian Yelich’s score on a grounder from Brice Turang in the top of the 12th inning.
