- “We are blessed to get to do what we love on stage and sharing that is the best ever, so I didn’t feel the need to do that at the wedding,” Goodrem told Australian newspaper the Herald Sun, also referencing her musician partner
Delta Goodrem is used to taking to the stage, but she was adamant she wouldn’t be performing on her wedding day.
While speaking to Australian newspaper the Herald Sun, the “Lost Without You” hitmaker, 41, discussed tying the knot with her musician partner, Matthew Copley, in a fairytale destination wedding in Malta, in June.
When it came to music on the day, Goodrem insisted she’s “got to represent” her native Australia “at all times,” so she entered her reception to AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck.”
Although she was more than happy to dance to the song, Goodrem insisted she had no plans to perform herself.

The musician told the outlet, “I had no intention of singing. We are blessed to get to do what we love on stage and sharing that is the best ever, so I didn’t feel the need to do that at the wedding.”
“All my family and friends, I ask them to come to shows all the time, they don’t need that for my wedding,” Goodrem added to the Herald Sun.

Goodrem and Copley — who started dating in 2017 before getting engaged in Malta in 2023 — exchanged vows at the historic St. Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina, constructed in the 12th century in a syncretic Baroque style, per Vogue Australia.
“Both Matt and I love tradition,” Goodrem told the outlet. “We love history, connection and family is everything to us. So finding the right mix of elegance and a whole heap of fun, a bit of luxury and grandeur that was also grounded, and kept our love relatively private, was important to us.”
For her walk down the aisle, Goodrem wore a gown by Paul Vasileff, creative director and designer of Australian formal wear label Paolo Sebastian. “I always knew what I wanted my wedding dress to be,” Goodrem told the outlet, adding, “And I knew the perfect designer for it. Paul and I connected the second I got engaged, and we started working together immediately.”

After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests headed to Naxxar’s Palazzo Parisio, an 18th century estate with Italianate gardens.
“I also knew I wanted to celebrate and dance the night away with my loved ones, so I opted for two dress changes for my reception, both designed by the formidable Con Ilio,” Goodrem told Vogue Australia. “He custom made two incredible pieces: one modern, drop-waist gown, hand-beaded with crystal and pearls, and one high neck, silk dress for the afterparty and endless dancing.”
