Tom Brady, Gisele Bündchen divorce after 13 years of marriage

 

NFL star Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bündchen have finalized their divorce after 13 years of marriage, with both announcing the news in statements posted to social media on Friday morning.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, 45, wrote in his statement that he and Bündchen, 42, arrived at their decision “amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together.” He added that they would continue to work together as parents.

Bündchen said in a statement posted to Instagram, “The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always.”

Messages left by USA TODAY Sports for Brady and Bündchen’s representatives had not been returned Friday morning.

Brady and Bündchen tied the knot in February 2009 during a small ceremony in Santa Monica, California, after two years of dating. They share two children: Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9. Brady also has son John, 15, from a previous relationship with actress Bridget Moynihan. Bündchen said she refers to John as her “bonus child.”
