The countdown to USC’s 2025 football season is officially on! The Trojans kick off their new campaign 85 days from today. You need something to help you while away the days and hours in the spring and summer. This is one way to do so. In this new series, countdown to kickoff, we will be counting down the days by highlighting a notable Trojan who wore each number. Today, we take a look at the youngest player on our list to date, current USC tight end Walker Lyons.

Position: Tight end

Years played at USC: 2024-present

Career highlights: Lyons originally graduated from high school in 2022, and was part of Lincoln Riley’s first recruiting class at USC. After serving a two-year Mormon mission in Norway, Lyons joined the Trojans prior to the 2024 season. As a true freshman last season, Lyons served as a key backup tight end, appearing in 11 games and catching six passes for 36 yards.

Lyons will look to take on a bigger role in USC’s offense in 2025.
