Demi Lovato opens up about having pop star best friends, plush she opens up about going to an AA meeting after the Met Gala, her sexual fluidity, and more.
This woman does NOT hold back. Which is one of the many reasons why we love her.
In a new interview with Billboard mag, Demi talk about everything from her famous friends to her sobriety.
When it comes to telling fake friends from real friends, Demi said QUOTE, “The people that aren’t willing to chill with you at home are the type of people that just want to be seen with you….When Ariana Grande and I hang out, it’s super chill.”
Demi is also close with Iggy Azalea, explaining of the rapper QUOTE, “She’s super low-key; she doesn’t drink or party. She has struggled a lot…She’s very outspoken, and sometimes it can turn people off. But that’s one of the reasons I love her. She’s not the type of person who lies to you.”
And while Demi is naturally a part of the celeb scene and has graced red carpets all over, uber glamorous events are certainly not her favorite part of the biz. She explained that she had a miserable time at the 2016 Met Gala, which lead her to attend an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting right after the event. She said QUOTE, “I had a terrible experience…This one celebrity was a complete bitch and was miserable to be around. It was very cliquey. I remember being so uncomfortable that I wanted to drink.” She then texted her manager, who encouraged her to go straight to a 10 p.m. AA meeting after the gala.
She further explained of that experience QUOTE, “I changed my clothes, but I still had my diamonds on — millions of dollars of diamonds on in an AA meeting. And I related more to the homeless people in that meeting who struggled with the same struggles that I deal with than the people at the Met Gala — fake and sucking the fashion industry’s dick.” You gotta love Demi for always keeping it real.
And speaking of Demi always speaking her truth, she also admitted to the mag that she’s still working on her insecurities, explaining QUOTE, “I feel uncomfortable in my own skin…We live in a world where women feel pressure to look a certain way, and I fall victim to that sometimes. I feel like I have to dress a certain way to appeal to certain demographics. But actually, I don’t have to do that.”
While Demi may not feel certain of herself sometimes, one thing she is certain of is her sexuality. She told InStyle mag QUOTE, “I’m very fluid…I think love is love. You can find it in any gender. I like the freedom of being able to flirt with whoever I want.”
Demi, your honesty and openness are seriously a breath of fresh air in a sea of celebrity gossip.
